This Readme is divided into the following sections: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) Before Using SonicStage Mastering Studio - Supported Audio Devices 2) Important Notes - Changing the Screen Resolution and Colors - Free Hard Disk Drive Space Requirements - File Import - Registration with SonicStage - Using This Program and Another Program Simultaneously - Important Notes When Using Windows Vista 3) Known Issues 4) Legal Notice ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) Before Using SonicStage Mastering Studio Supported Audio Devices SonicStage Mastering Studio has been verified to work with the following audio devices: - VAIO built-in audio devices - Roland EDIROL Hi-Speed USB Audio Capture UA-101 - Roland EDIROL UA-25 AUDIO Capture USB Audio/MIDI Interface - Roland EDIROL UA-5 AUDIO Capture USB Audio Interface - VAIO built-in audio devices For models equipped with a Sound Reality audio device, DSD related features and ASIO features of a Sound Reality audio device will be supported with future updates. - The Roland devices mentioned above will be supported with future updates. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) Important Notes Changing the Screen Resolution and Colors - Do not change the Screen Resolution or Colors settings while SonicStage Mastering Studio is running. Doing so may cause the screen contents to display improperly. Free Hard Disk Drive Space Requirements - To record, edit, or output audio with this program, the exact amount of available hard disk drive space required varies from project to project, based upon the settings and length of the project. For example, recording and editing one hour of stereo audio at a bit depth of 24 bits and a sample rate of 96 kHz requires at least 4 GB of free hard disk drive space. Using certain specific features in a project, such as normalization, noise reduction, and outputting to DSD format, increases the amount of disk space required. - SonicStage Mastering Studio may not operate properly when there is not enough hard disk drive space available. File Import - When converting and importing WAV files, the converted file cannot be imported if it is 4 GB or larger after conversion. Registration with SonicStage - Songs with 5.1 ch audio cannot be registered with SonicStage. Using This Program and Another Program Simultaneously - In the following cases, this program may not be able to record or play audio. To record or play audio on this program, quit the corresponding program and restart this program. - Playing a DSD file on another program - Playing audio on another program supporting ASIO Important Notes When Using Windows Vista - When you are logged on with a Guest account, this program may not operate properly. Log on using an Administrator account or a Standard user account when using this program. - When monitoring audio playback is selected in the Options window, please note that acoustic feedback may occur when bringing a microphone close to a speaker. Also, When selecting an internal microphone for input and internal speakers for monitoring audio playback, please note that acoustic feedback may also occur. - Before recording or playing in high quality audio with a standard device, configure your computer by opening the Windows Control Panel and do the following: - Select "Hardware and Sound" - Select "Sound" - From the "Recording" or "Playback" tab, select a device and then click "Properties." - From the "Advanced" tab, select the sampling rate and bit depth to be used. If you do not configure your computer, the Windows Vista operating system will change the bit depth and sampling rate automatically and you may not be able to record or play back as you intended. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) Known Issues - When you play a song in the effect settings windows, the next song in the project may begin playing immediately after your selected song.
